Click Here to see Dr. Livingston's CV (Curriculum Vitae) Dr. Peter G. Livingston has been in practice as a Retina-trained Ophthalmologist for 12 years. He uses innovative procedures and is always current with the latest technologies pertaining to his field of expertise. State of the Art equipment was a first priority in setting up his new office in Bradenton. He was the first ophthalmologist in the ArkLaMiss to embrace sutureless vitrectomies, Avastin Injections for AMD, Diabetes, and retinal vascular disease, and endoscopic vitrectomies. He also is a pioneer in INOFFICE vitrectomy techniques using the Innovit system. His residency and fellowship were completed at USF in Tampa in 1999. Prior to residency, Dr. Livingston was involved in basic research in viralimmunology; one of several areas in which he is a published author. Dr. Livingston practiced in Louisiana for 10 years in the area known as the ArkLaMiss, serving the tristate areas of Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. It was a thriving practice where he was appreciated and respected by his patients. Dr. Livingston was the founder of the N.E. Louisiana Low Vision Group. His business and family accountant, Elbert Via, said he would be forever grateful to him and his professionalism. When other doctors told Mr. Via he was going blind, that nothing could be done, and he should sell his accounting practice; Dr. Livingston gave him hope and saved not only his eyesight but his livelihood. Mr. Via is just one of the thousands of patients Dr. Livingston has helped, even when others could not. Dr. Livingston is a native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. His father Curt was a high school science teacher who taught biology, chemistry and physics. His mother Flora was in the first class of Physician’s Assistants trained at Dartmouth College in 1973. She recently retired from her R.N. position. Curt suffered many of the lifelong complications from Type I Diabetes. This was a major influence on Dr. Livingston’s choice to treat diabetic eye disease.
Peter met his wife Terry Marie in Tampa and after a 3 year courtship; they were married at the Manatee Historical Park Church in 1998, among many family friends and the Zabriskie Clan. Terry and her sisters and brother are long time residents of Bradenton, children of Arthur and Nellie Zabriskie. They have three children, Cameron, Channing and Traxson. Dr. Livingston is a devoted husband and father, spending weekends at home or traveling here and there with his family. After years in Louisiana, Dr. Livingston respectfully honored his wife’s wish to go back home to Florida. They happily reside in Sarasota. |
